Coaching for Parents

As our children grow and mature, our relationships with them continue to
change and evolve.  Teens and young adults, by nature seek independence
and it is our job to nurture and build this quality as they transition out of
childhood.  We support them and give them the tools to strive toward
responsible, independent and fulfilling lives.

Coaching will provide parents with strategies on how to listen deeply, ask
questions, help explore options and guide their children to design goals and
actions to meet them

How?

A)  Listen--slow down, focus on them, avoid giving advice, listen for the
message beneath what they are saying.  What's not being said?

B)  Ask provocative questions--engage in dialogues without interrogating.
"What would you like?"  "How may that be possible?"  "What are the
obstacles?"  "How can you make that happen?"

C)  Actions--help them identify their options, make choices decide,
develop a plan, commit and do.

By being patient, flexible, creative and consistent, parents can give the
support needed for positive relationships with their children.  Coaching will
help reinforce these skills and help to prepare for the bigger decisions that
are awaiting their children.
